Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on engineer to translate department-defined business needs into practical, secure system integrations, automations, and AI-enabled workflows. Departmental subject-matter experts own the business process and validate outcomes; this role evaluates technical options, designs and implements solutions, and makes sure automations and AI agents remain reliable, observable, and appropriately controlled. The engineer will also support employee AI enablement through demonstrations, training, and troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities
Workflow discovery, evaluation and solution design
- Partner with investment, finance, accounting, investor relations, legal, and operations teams to convert their requirements into clear technical specifications, process maps, acceptance criteria, and implementation plans.
- Evaluate whether existing application features, rules-based automation, integration, AI-assisted workflows, or autonomous agents offer the safest and most maintainable solution; avoid AI where simpler methods work better.
- Assess feasibility, data quality, licensing, vendor capabilities, costs, risks, and maintenance needs; present trade-offs and recommendations to the CTO and business owners.
Systems integration and automation delivery
- Design, build, configure, test, document, and maintain integrations and automations using Python, REST APIs, webhooks, Microsoft Power Automate, and other approved tools.
- Connect approved enterprise platforms such as Microsoft 365 (including Copilot), Claude, NetSuite, Yardi, and Tipalti when supported by available APIs, permissions, and licensing.
- Automate document handling, data extraction, validation, reconciliations, reporting, routing, and approval workflows; implement error handling, logging, retries, and alerts.
- Coordinate specialized development, application vendors, the MSP, and security/compliance stakeholders; support user acceptance testing, production rollout, and incident resolution.
AI implementation, governance and agent safety
- Configure and implement approved AI tools (Claude and Microsoft Copilot), enterprise connectors, and task-specific AI workflows, including multi-step agentic workflows with tool use; evaluate model and agent outputs against defined accuracy, reliability, and business acceptance criteria.
- Apply practical AI governance controls, including least-privilege access, scoped tool and data permissions, human approvals for sensitive actions, execution limits, change control, audit trails, and the ability to stop or disable workflows.
- Test and mitigate agent-specific risks such as prompt injection, excessive autonomy, data leakage, unauthorized actions, hallucinations, and failures across multi-step workflows.
- Implement monitoring and traceability for agent actions, tool calls, exceptions, costs, and workflow outcomes; investigate anomalies and maintain documentation and escalation procedures.
- Work within governance policies established by the CTO, security, and compliance teams; recommend technical safeguards and escalate risk decisions rather than independently owning enterprise policy.
AI enablement and operational support
- Provide practical employee demonstrations, small-group training, office hours, and concise usage guidance; help departments adopt approved tools safely.
- Maintain deployed integrations and automations, evaluate user feedback, track defects and improvements, and establish clear handoffs to vendors or support teams when appropriate.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Approximately 5 years in systems integration, automation engineering, solutions engineering, or a related hands-on technical role, with demonstrable production delivery.
- Proficiency in Python, REST APIs, JSON, webhooks, authentication, data transformations, and troubleshooting integrations; practical experience with at least one automation platform (e.g., Power Automate, n8n, Make).
- Strong Microsoft 365 knowledge (Excel, SharePoint, Outlook, Teams); working knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, OAuth 2.0, service identities, access control, and secure connectors.
- Ability to test workflows end-to-end, validate financial/document data, handle exceptions, create operational logs, and support production reliability.
- Practical understanding of enterprise AI governance and security controls for AI agents, including oversight, permissions, evaluation, monitoring, and human-in-the-loop approval.
- Ability to translate business requirements into workable technical designs, communicate trade-offs clearly, document solutions, and train nontechnical employees.
- Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential financial, investor, employee, and legal information.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Claude and/or Microsoft Copilot (APIs, tool use, agent or Copilot Studio workflows, enterprise connectors, evaluation, and safety patterns). Experience with other LLMs is secondary.
- Demonstrable experience building or configuring multi-step agentic workflows with controlled tool access, human approval checkpoints, and production monitoring.
- Experience with SQL, Git/version control, secure software delivery, and production observability or orchestration tools.
- Familiarity with financial services or private equity workflows and enterprise applications such as NetSuite, Yardi, and Tipalti.
- Awareness of NIST AI Risk Management Framework and ISO/IEC 42001; formal certification is not required.
