As a Compliance Engineer, you will drive regulatory compliance activities for North America, European and Japanese markets. The ideal candidate will have an in-depth understanding of applicable industry standards, such as ANSI/RIA R15.06, ANSI/RIA R15.08, ISO10218, UL508A, UL1740, UL3100, and IEC60204. You should be motivated to adapt established design and regulatory principles and standards into a new and emerging industry.You will take a key role in Dexterity’s scale and global expansion by designing and implementing compliant solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Determine the applicable standards for selling into all target markets.
  • Own the certification plans for all Dexterity products, analyzing the certification document requirements and driving required activities, including testing, to completion.
  • Identify gaps in design for certification and, with the product design team, develop plans to address them.
  • Work with internal teams and manage the activities of external NRTLs to get product certification activities completed.
  • Ensure that all critical components, enclosures and materials are Listed/Recognized and suitable for the intended application.Offer subject matter expertise regarding industry standards and regulations.
  • Coordinate the work of external consultants or test laboratories, as needed.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest safety and compliance trends, regulations, and technologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related engineering field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in Compliance in the automation, manufacturing, aerospace or automotive industries.
  • Knowledge of relevant domestic and international standards such as ANSI B.11, ANSI/RIA R15.06, ANSI/RIA R15.08, ISO 10218, ISO 12100, ISO 13482, ISO 13849, ISO 26262, NFPA70, UL508A, UL3100, UL1740, IEC 60204, IEC 61496, IEC 61508, IEC 62061, IEC 61496, and IEC/TS 62998-1.
  • Familiarity with CE directives such as the Machinery Regulation and EMC Directive. Experience working with NRTLs and certification laboratories.
  • Professional certification in functional safety or compliance (e.g. CFSE, CMSE, CECE, etc.) is highly preferred.
  • Proven ability to work independently and take ownership of projects, as well as collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including communicating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed (up to 15%).
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Structured Text, Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagrams, etc. is a plus.
