Job Title: Data Scientist II

Location: 50 W San Fernando St., Suite 1800, San Jose, CA 95113

*Telecommuting permitted: work may be performed within normal commuting distance from The Trade Desk, Inc. office in San Jose, CA.

Job Duties: Identify relationships in data regarding the consumer behavior of internet users and leverage those relationships to research better ways of predicting user behavior. Utilize outputs of competing models and algorithms to predict user behavior and to determine the highest performing methods to ensure that measured performance differences are not due to random variation. Work with multiple large data sets, including proprietary TTD and client data, which may be partial (missing data) or unreliable (incorrect data). Develop new mathematical equations and formalisms that relate proprietary TTD and client data to client goals. Apply Machine learning/Deep Learning models to predict consumer behavior for specific clients as well as to predict the outcome of real-time bidding auctions. Develop statistical methods and translate them into computer code that runs in customer-facing or customer-impacting parts of The Trade Desk’s (“TTD”) software product. Test the software product for performance, particularly components applying statistical methods. Check TTD data and client data for inaccuracies before utilizing for input to an analysis or model and apply weights to the raw data to make it more representative in cases where the data is not a representative sample of the desired population. Process large datasets ranging up to hundreds of terabytes in size to generate features signals for input to statistical models to predict consumer behavior. Develop statistical analysis or models and communicate to business stakeholders in written form. Select and/or recommend statistical methods based on business needs. Use historical data to analyze patterns of consumer behavior that would be useful in predicting future behavior. Responsible for regular presentations of results of analyses and/or performance of statistical models and their relation to stakeholders (product, marketing, engineers), communicating effectively across both technical and non-technical audiences, making architecture recommendations, ensuring effective execution, and measuring quality of outcomes.

Salary: $211,536 - $227,000/year

Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics or related field and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or related role OR Master's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics or related field and three (3) years of experience in the job offered or related role. Must have three (3) years of experience with: Python; Spark; SQL and PySpark. Must have three (3) years of end-to-end experience with Machine Learning projects. Must have two (2) years of experience with TensorFlow or PyTorch. Must have one (1) year of experience with Scala.

CO, CA, IL, NY, WA, and Washington DC residents only: In accordance with CO, CA, IL, NY, WA, and Washington DC law, the range provided is The Trade Desk's reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location. All employees may be eligible to become The Trade Desk shareholders through eligibility for stock-based compensation grants, which are awarded to employees based on company and individual performance. The Trade Desk also offers other compensation depending on the role such as sales-based incentives and commissions. At the Trade Desk, Base Salary is one part of our competitive total compensation and benefits package and is determined using a salary range. The base salary range for this role is $211,536$227,000 USD
