Figure is an AI Robotics company developing a general purpose humanoid. Our humanoid robot, Figure 02, is designed for commercial tasks and the home. We are based in San Jose, CA and require 5 days/week in-office collaboration. It’s time to build.
We are looking for a Manufacturing Wire Harness Engineer to lead the design, rapid build, and implementation of wire harnesses critical to our manufacturing line. This role requires a proactive mindset, strong ownership, and the ability to move quickly in a fast-paced hardware environment.
Responsibilities:
- Design and build testing harnesses for a variety of validation applications. Establish fast-turnaround processes to support rapid iteration, ensuring correct fit and routing across hardware setups.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal manufacturing specifications. Ensure compliance with these specs across internal builds and external suppliers.
- Create accurate, production-ready 2D wire harness drawings (we build to print).
- Own 3D routing and package layouts in CATIA V6 3DExperience for test setups and production equipment.
- Support electrical schematic development. Ensure alignment across 2D, 3D and schematics.
- Collaborate with ME and EE teams to select connectors, wire gauges and wire types. Manage component creation and updates within the harness library.
- Work with our GSM team to select suppliers and collaborate with part ordering.
- Inspect first articles, build test fixtures, and support continuous integration into development robots and production environments.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience designing wire harnesses.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree.
- Catia V6 3DExperience and a 2D schematic/drawing tool (e.g., Capital, Arcadia).
- Experience designing and building prototypes.
- Ability to write and maintain clear documentation for your design process.
- Experience with EMI/EMC wire separation, HV and high power wiring, grounding, and different types of harnesses for specific applications (Ethernet, HV, USB, etc).
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems, especially related to panel design, wiring layout, and functional testing.
Bonus Qualifications:
- Experience integrating harnesses with electromechanical systems (sensors, motors, drivers).
- Background in robotics or automation.
